“How extensive is the University of Padua, and how much has it grown over eight hundred years of history? How many people have made Padua their home because of the University? Where did they come from and where are they headed? What kind of networking has branched off from the University of Padua, and how have they expanded their geographical presence globally?”
Within the context of a series of events celebrating the University of Padua 800th anniversary, Palazzo Wollemborg is hosting Padua Univercity, an exhibition focusing on the university history and geography. The Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences asked Quantitas to design and develop a dedicated web platform (http://univercity.800anniunipd.it/) as well as a series of thematic infographics grouped in three main sections:
“Forma Urbis – demonstrates the physical expansion of the University within and beyond the city of Padua by reconstructing significant moments of its development during its 800 years of history.
People – describes the geographic mobility of those who currently attend the University and those who have frequented it over the centuries by pinpointing the geographic origins of students, staff and educators of the University.
Networks – reveals the invisible but growing network of web and social interactions derived from the international flows of students entering and leaving Padua created by the international agreements of a university that brings the world to Padua and the city of Padua to the world.”
Specifically, the interactive web platform is a scrollable one-page animation, comprising different multimedia elements (i.e., interactive charts, interactive maps, video, animated counters, etc.), each of them illustrating and narrating a piece of the University history through archival data gathered during a one year long design process.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Music Room of Palazzo Wollemborg, via del Santo 26, from 25 October to 20 November 2022 during the opening hours the Geography Museum opening hours (on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays from 10 am till 6 pm).
